GAME DAY!!!

One of the things my family misses most is Game Day in OK!! For big games we would usually have family come over or go to one of their houses, eat way too much junk food, and have a really fun day together...adults gathered around the tv, cousins playing in the back. In fact, one day, Hudson said, "mom I really miss just putting all the food out on all the counters and you can eat whenever you want...whatever you want". (all children are basically unsupervised for 4 hours to eat and drink whatever they want....we only come when they are bleeding profusely from the head)

Today, being OU/TX, Rob asked if we could have football food for lunch. So, last night I made chips, prepared everything to make sausage balls today, Hannah made a red velvet cake in honor of OU, and I got some chicken ready to pop in the crock pot while we were at our small group this morning. We invited a few people over to watch the game with us...we were ready.

We arrived home from group time, quickly finished the prep for lunch and sat down yelling and cheering for OU. With 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter we lost our connection to the beloved slingbox. We tried for a long time to get it back, internet was working, nothin had changed, the picture just froze then said we were no longer remotely connected. Bummer. We sent our guests home wih some sausage balls, and now Rob is out running errands getting ready for our week.

The catch is, he still doesn't know the outcome of the game. I cheated and read all about it, and the other upsets. Poor guy. I would kinda like to prolong the inevitable. Could someone please switch the outcome of the game before he watches it. Fix the slingbox but choose the alternate ending? Every other week, we have gotten to watch OU play with no problems. Guess now I know if the slingbox goes down it's a way of saying, "you don't really want to watch".

Oh Well, Maybe next week!!

Don't miss the game, but I do miss the family time. MeMaw was the one watching the Kids in those 4 hours since the kids were much more entertaining. Sorry your beloved OU lost, but not really since it is just a game.

I wish I didn't know how the game ended. Our pastor teased our worship pastor today and gave him a Texas shirt. During the 2nd service, he at least turned the shirt upside down.

Our TV went kaput during the Orange Bowl in 1988. We didn't know who won until the next day when we read it in the paper.

see what happens when you move away...nothing's the same, even for ou! ;o)

way to go in keeping up traditions!

Mmm...sausage balls! Thanks for reminding me - I think I'll make some for this Saturday's game. (Of course, we will probably be watching different games, if your slingshot or whatever gets fixes. And actually, we'll probably be listening to our game on the radio, unless someone gets a brain and decides to put the NUMBER 8 team in the country on TV.) But, we're not bitter, and still, the sausage balls will be great! Sorry about the outcome of last week's game for you guys - well, sort of sorry. Really, I'm mainly sorry that you probably had to be the one to break the news to Rob.
