I have mentioned several times how much I love riding my bike everywhere.......except, when it runs out of electricity. The reason being it doesn't automatically turn into a regular bike you can pedal along, but it turns into a heavy piece of machinary that gives you the workout of your life. My tutor told me she could never have her own bike becasue she can't even lift it onto its kickstand while parking, that is how heavy it is.
The worst bike workout, I mean ride, I had was the time Rob was out of town and I took the kids to eat and to Wal-Mart, both on the back of my bike. It is about a 20 minute ride from our house to Wal-Mart. We finish at Wal-Mart and were coming out of the parking garage, when red lights start flashing.....no battery. So, I "pedal" all the way home, 140 lbs of children on the back of an already heavy bike, and upon arrival I counted it as my workout for the day, and was only a little sore the next day.
Normally our bikes last 2 days on a charge. By the end of the second day, it is time to recharge. However, this week, my bike hasn't been holding a charge for more than a day. I have found my self running out of battery quite frequently.
So....all that set up to tell you about today. After dropping the kids off at school this morning, my battery light came on, but we were half way to our school, and had several more places to go today. So I pedaled most of the day. At our last stop, before home, we were at some friends house, by Wal-Mart. Rob had the idea that we bungee our bikes together and he would pull me home. I said, No way!!! DANGER!! He assured me he had it all figured out. I told him everyone would think we were strange......he assured me they already did. I was out of excuses. So, we bungeed together and headed out. I only had a few scary moments as we pulled out of the parking lot and finally got onto the street. We headed down the street, going at a good pace, when a car pulled out and I put my brakes on and Rob didn't........no more bungee. Oh well. It was a good idea. I told Rob to go on ahead and get home because the kids were supposed to be coming home, and I pedaled home. Now, why didn't I switch bikes with him and have him pedal home? Next time. And sorry....no picture of this incident, that would have been a sight.

What a book this blog is going to make someday. Thanks for starting our day off with laughter.
It's REALLY strange some of the stuff that appears to be genetic!!! When we owned our auto salvage, there were two of us and we towed more cars (hundreds!) in with another car and a chain than any other way! Rob was too young to have observed this "phenomenon"! Two bikes and a bungee cord-hmmmmm???
i cannot imagine having to pedal that thing everywhere and then walk the six flights of stairs to your front door. you must have buns of steel by now. lol
i think i'd be asking santa for a new battery if i were you.
Everytime I think I've read it all, you post something even more bizarre. To think a trip to Wal-Mart here entails looking for a good parking spot, I've never had to use a bungee cord when leaving the store.
Do you need more bungee cords?
You really make my day, when I read about ya'll's crazy things. It really does make me grateful that I have a car of my own rather than an electric bike. I couldn't possibly imagine putting 2 small children plus a baby on that bike. LOL! :)
Be afraid when Rob says he's got it all figured out.
I got such a "visual" reading that post!! It made me laugh!
Do you ever give that bike a good kick???
aww rob, trying to be your energizer bunny. alicia...i feel sorry for you in a hundred different ways! you go girl!
