On the 18th, Rob was out of town, so Hannah and I decided to have a "hudson day" in the big city doing all the things he likes to do. We traveled by bus to the city and ate lunch at our favorite pizza place.
After lunch, we went to the arcade and played video games, shot baskets on the pop-a-shot, and tried to win tickets. It is here that I will say how disappointing this was. We have been visiting this arcade for many years now and it has sadly been neglected. Most of the games no longer work, or the tickets were not coming out, or the games were turned off. While we were there all of the workers were playing cards/gambling in the back of the arcade. No wonder nothing works. Finally at the end of our time we went to cash in our tickets, the ticket counter machine was broken. I offered to count them myself, but the lady at the counter kept saying the machine was broken there was nothing we could do. Right. Ahhhh....the joys of living abroad.
After the arcade was finished, we did a little birthday shopping at the local video game market. Sorry, I didn't take pictures. :)
For the last part of our day we went to see a movie, where Jill and Shellyn showed up to meet us. We ate popcorn, had cold cokes, and a great time was had by all!
Dinner was a quick trip to McDonalds for a birthday burger and fries, which ended up having to be eaten in the taxi on the way back to the bus station becasue we couldn't find a taxi for an hour.....grrrrr. But thankfully, we made it to the bus station with 5 minutes to spare before the last bus back to our town left for the day.
A day or so later, we had cake! We have visitors here from CA and they helped us celebrate Hudson's birthday. Truthfully I think they were happy to eat cake after a week out in the countryside!
AND......Last I want to say a HUGE "thank you" to Uncle Phil and Aunt Krista for their birthday gifts they sent to the boys, via the CA group. Hudson and Rob were both very happy with their gifts. (I have been good and haven't opened mine yet....but thank you anyway!)
