Hannah is going to work. We have decided it is time for her to earn her keep, so we are sending her into the world to make a living. Well, kind of.
Hannah began her very first job on Sunday afternoon. She sought this job out on her own, has prepared for it and is so excited! Hannah has found that she loves to teach. She loves helping with the children in our small group and teaching the stories and crafts. So, she began asking if she could find a local girl to teach. Through some contacts we have, she has started tutoring a little girl in English every Sunday afternoon. We went last week to meet the parents and the little girl, Jenny. Hannah and Jenny played together for a while and got to know one another. The parents offered to take Hannah on vacations from now on with them, every summer and winter. (Ummmm.....I dont' know about that) But they were so excited that Hannah was willing to come and teach their daughter.
We are so proud of her initiative and responsibility. She prepared a lesson plan and fun games for the 2 hour class. She was very nervous when I dropped her off, but went up the stairs and into the class like a pro! As I left her there for her two hours, I prayed that everything she had ever learned from me, which I learned from my mom, would be given to her! After the two hours, I promptly picked her up. She was feeling a little down because her 2 hour lesson plan, was finished in 1 hour. She just "winged it" the last hour like a true teacher. :) Being the perfectionist that she is, she felt she could have done better making her lesson plan last longer, but is ready to do it again next week.
I am so proud of her! I will keep you posted......

I'm SO with you on the"Ummmm"! How could Hannah miss with YOU as her Mom!! I guess I have not recognized "perfectionist" in your parents, which is not to say that it's not there. Perfectionism does run in the Olmstead clan, pretty strongly and evidently! We'll be GLAD to take the blame for Hannah's tendancy to want to "get it right"! We'll be glad to share it w/the Wagner clan as well! I love you Hannah, as well as ALL the members of the Eastern section of the Olmsteads!
I have felt for a long time that Hannah's was gifted to teach. Don't know how that will play out in the long run, but she is a teacher and will operate in that gift wherever she goes and whatever she is doing. You go girl. I am proud of you and hope that you will keep us posted on your adventures in using your gift.
way to go Hannah!!! that's so great that she had this idea all by herself and followed thru!!!! def proud of her!
Wow. I love that girl. :)
