The summer after my freshman year in college I spent the summer in Eastman, GA as a youth intern. At the end of the summer, my dad flew to Atlanta where I picked him up at the airport and we drove all the way back to Dallas. We had such a great time together talking the whole way back home and I treasure the time we had together just the two of us.
One of the greatest experiences of my life were the countless hours I spent on the bus traveling the country on youth choir tours from the time I was a few months old until adulthood. I have been across the entire country with my dad, worked with him in backyard bible clubs, and sung with him just about everywhere. He was so instrumental in where I am today, teaching me from the beginning to live a life of service for our Heavenly Father.
I have so many fond memories of my dad, but to this day I tear up thinking of when he gave me away and spoke a blessing over me as I married Rob. He quoted Ruth 3:11 and told me how proud he was of me. That moment is one that will always stay with me!
So, for the countless hours of letting us “ride horsey” on your back, and driving us to and fro to watch our games and cheer us on….thank you DAD!! I love you and hope you have a GREAT birthday!

And I too am very thankful to your Dad and Mom for helping you develop into such a beautiful woman of such excellent character for my son to take as his helpmate!
OK, I'm weeping again! Thank you for sharing a lovely birthday tribute to your Dad! There is a current country song-"Small Town Southern Man" that bears a line in the chorus that says: "His greatest contribution is the ones he leaves behind"! I believe that is true for your Dad and myself, and am SO thankful for what I believe is that REALITY! Yes, riding in the car,parent-child is a wonderful thing! That is where Rob told me that he beilived that YOU were God's choice for his life partner-before you would even hardly give him (Rob) the time of day! Boy, am I glad you got the message too! Love you guys-packing-see you soon!
